So, what’s next?

Well, you need to pick a training provider. Location, cost, and availability are the major factors. So, let’s get right to it.

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)

The one-day session, delivered over the course of approximately 8 hours (with one hour of breaks), covers the fundamentals of providing first aid to adults in a variety of emergency medical situations.

Delivered in a classroom setting, the training provides delegates the opportunity to develop practical skills in a range of controlled scenarios. Delegates are assessed at various intervals, with quizzes and question-and-answer sessions utilised to gauge understanding.

The course, delivered by an instructor with decades of experience in the role, is designed to be as engaging as possible; interaction and participation are encouraged.

Upon completing the course, delegates will receive their certificate in the post. The qualification is valid for 3 years.

First Aid at Work (FAW)

Anyone can attend the 3-day FAW course; however, it is ideal for delegates working in medium-to-high-risk environments, and for some businesses it is a requirement.

During the course of the 3 days, delegates will receive practical tuition in providing first aid to adult casualties suffering from shock, heavy bleeding, blocked airways and seizures. Delegates will also benefit from theoretical tuition on topics such as the prevention of cross-infection, the use of first aid equipment, and methods of recording incidents.

Fundamentals such as CPR, defibrillation, recovery positions and incident management will also be covered at length, with practical engagement and demonstrations as and when necessary.

Delegates will benefit from controlled use of equipment, in a safe, secure and fully-accredited training environment.
